Originally designed in 1951, this is a fine early example of Charles Eames' DKR Eiffel Chair for Herman Miller. This design won the Eames' their first American mechanical patent. The pedestal base is often referred to as the "Eiffel Tower" base due to its resemblance to the cast iron Paris landmark. This all-wire chair design was both revolutionary and surprisingly comfortable with the addition of the seat cushion, and remains an icon of the era.
